Parmigiani Fleurier Celebrates Sponsorship of Montreux Jazz Festival with Unique Timepiece
Claude Nobs' world-famous Festival owes its success to the quality of its line-up year after year, which draws in crowds from across the globe, uniting cultures through the universal power of music.

As the main sponsor of the Montreux Jazz Festival since 2007, Parmigiani Fleurier will set up camp, as it does each year, in its VIP area on the shores of the lake, at the heart of the festival.

Each evening, Parmigiani Fleurier will recognize some of the greatest talents in contemporary music by presenting a watch to artists selected by the Montreux Jazz Festival. Taken from the Tonda Métro collection – Métrographe for male artists and Métropolitaine for female artists – these pieces feature a dial designed to reflect the 2014 festival poster, to give each artist a lasting souvenir of his or her time at Montreux. The limited edition "Edition Spéciale MJF 2014" watches will be presented on stage by representatives of the Fleurier-based brand at the end of the concerts.

Parmigiani Fleurier is rare amongst sponsors in that it gets involved with all the Montreux Jazz Festival activities throughout the year – not just during the three weeks of concerts. Supporting young talent and the musicians of tomorrow is particularly close to the brand's heart, as it was to Claude Nobs, the festival's founder. Parmigiani Fleurier is continuously developing and enriching its partnership through its support for the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation and the Montreux Jazz Cafés.

The Tonda Mambo

Every year, Parmigiani Fleurier creates timepieces linked to the world of music, which represent the brand's long-standing partnership with the Montreux Jazz Festival. These exceptional watches combine musicality and haute horlogerie in the same dial, thanks to the delicate art of marquetry which uses wooden mosaic techniques to create a unique feel for each piece. Their common signature: colours that reflect a national flag; a guitar with an open sound hole to reveal a tourbillon.

The Tonda Mambo, the latest addition to this exceptional series of unique pieces in wooden marquetry, is without doubt the most sophisticated and complex piece yet produced. With its sultry Latin tones, it represents a Cuban musician plucking the strings of his guitar in an improvised melody from his homeland – the Mambo.
