While the menus continue to evolve and change with the seasons, the patio provides an authentic, organic dinner party atmosphere often imitated but never duplicated.

When Michael McCarty set out to open a restaurant in 1979, he was determined to hold out for a space that would cater to his vision of California dining and provide the perfect backdrop to his nightly dinner party. At the bar and indoor lounge tables, the star of the scene goes to the fine art collection lining the walls. The outdoor space is a different story. It's a patio with all the right prepositions: under the stars, concealed by lush landscaping, separated from the street, and complemented by great people, great food, and great wine.

"The context of indoor-outdoor dining is such an iconic California way of life, and the garden is just more beautiful, spacious, and lush than ever. It has often been cited over the last 35 years as being one of the best year-round outdoor dining spots in Southern California," says McCarty.
