The seventh annual Readers' Spa Awards saw spa lovers nominate their favourite places to relax, detox and generally improve their wellbeing, from chic urban day spas to exotic destination retreats.

Each spa is scored out of a maximum of 100 points to give an index of satisfaction with spa facilities and services. The criteria include ambience/décor, body treatments, cuisine and service/staff.

Pezula Spa's overall satisfaction percentage was an incredible 95.34. Last year Pezula Spa scored 92.29. The Best Spa in the category Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean, COMO Shambhala Retreat, Maldives scored 95.57. The Top Spa in the World, Thermes Marins Bali, Ayana Resort and Spa, (formerly The Ritz-Carlton) in Bali, Indonesia scored 95.60.

Since opening in February 2005, Pezula Spa has been lauded with a number of awards and accolades. It was voted Favorite Spa in Africa in both the 2008 & 2009 SpaFinders Readers' Choice Awards, and Best Overseas Hotel Spa in the Condé Nast Readers' Travel Awards 2009. In 2008 it received the Consumers' Choice Award for the Best Retreat in Africa. It has thrice been named Africa's Leading Spa Resort in the World Travel Awards.
