Music, Design and Fashion the Focus at POV, W Washington DC's Reopened Rooftop

Music, Design and Fashion the Focus at POV, W Washington DC's Reopened Rooftop
Both the outdoor terrace and indoor lounge of POV are reconstructed to incorporate much of the architecture of the city that surrounds the hotel, combined with the cutting-edge design for which the W Washington DC has become renowned.

A Bold New Interpretation Overlooking An Iconic City

The new POV rooftop design is based upon an abstract interpretation of iconic touch points in our nation's history, such as the signing Declaration of Independence and the gift of cherry blossoms, all re-told via design elements found throughout the space. Architectural details including coffered ceilings, domed structures, tufted details, and stacked cornices are re-interpreted through a modern and irreverent lens.

New Spaces to Mix and Mingle

The outdoor terrace now showcases its unparalleled views from a number of gathering areas, each with their own focus. The space is designed to transition from daytime brunches overlooking the monuments of DC, to a hub of nightlife and cocktail culture at night. Seating zones ranging from communal tables to VIP banquettes populate the space, creating an intersection where guests can mingle or privately enjoy the view and the scene unfolding around them.

Railside seating to accommodate parties from 2 to 20 will line the POV Outdoor Terrace perimeter. A high-seating area will overlook the railside area, offering unencumbered views of the city and monuments below. To the back, a centerpiece of the renovation, a 50-foot “red tape” wall, fabricated from laser-cut, powder coated metal, will glow with LED lighting in the evenings.

On the north “White House Corner” of the rooftop, a 16-seat communal table is flanked by rounded Dome Bar, with corniced bar shelves and mouldings that nod to the historic landmarks below. A standing cocktail area buttresses the corner, offering exquisite views of the Treasury Building and Lafayette Park. The walls are designed by global contemporary street artist AIKO, in a commissioned work depicting her take on DC history.

VIP Treatment Both Indoors and Out

On the south “Washington Monument Corner,” a new VIP seating area and VIP Bar offers private seating for up to 50 guests. Five private tables, two lounge areas, and seating for 10 at the bar will comprise the VIP corner of the rooftop.

Heading into the indoor lounge, a reconfigured, glamorous space awaits. Opposite the 20' windows overlooking the Washington Monument, the new bar frames a wall-sized brass mural depicting Benjamin Franklin, John F Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln.
