Rosewood Miramar Beach Wins Food Made Good Award

Rosewood Miramar Beach Wins Food Made Good Award

Caruso’s, the signature oceanfront resort at Rosewood Miramar Beach, announces that the restaurant has achieved three stars in The Sustainable Restaurant Association’s Food Made Good Standard. The Standard is awarded to restaurants and F&B businesses that meet a set of criteria focused on sourcing, society and environment.

Sustainability is a guiding principle throughout Rosewood Miramar Beach’s food and beverage programming. This commitment to reducing the dining operations’ footprint by sourcing locally comes from a deep passion that the culinary team, led by Chef Partner Massimo Falsini, has for highlighting local ingredients and sourcing from local farmers, foragers, and fishermen whenever possible. Sourcing locally is not only an environmentally friendly option but also showcases the beautiful natural bounty available in the Central Coast and directly supports fellow community members. The dining operations are also supported by Chef Massimo’s on-property garden that helps provide produce and the resort’s resident beehive that produces honey for the restaurants.

“At Caruso’s we view sustainability not just as the future of gastronomy, but as the only way forward. When you work in harmony with mother nature you are not only able to produce the most delicious and nourishing food, but you can also feel a sense of accomplishment,” says Falsini. “We are very proud of our efforts in sustainability, and honored and grateful to The Sustainable Restaurant Association for the recognition.”

The Food Made Good Standard evaluates action across three pillars: Sourcing, Society and Environment, focusing on key impact areas to incorporate sustainability at every level of operations for a holistic approach. In addition to sustainability, the association carefully considers a business’ fair treatment of staff, community engagement, and efforts to fight food waste, among other criteria.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Caruso's! Achieving three stars in their very first Food Made Good Standard submission is a truly impressive achievement, earned through careful attention to local and sustainable sourcing (particularly where seafood is concerned), going above and beyond in how they treat their staff, getting involved in their local community through initiatives like beach clean-ups, offering plant-rich and nourishing meal options for both children and adults, and working towards ambitious targets for minimizing food waste, says Juliane Caillouette-Noble is The Sustainable Restaurant Association’s Managing Director. “Huge congratulations from our team to everyone at Caruso’s – it is such a pleasure to work with a business like yours.”

This is the latest accolade for Caruso’s, which has been recognized as a leader in sustainability. Additionally, the team’s efforts have earned recognition as Ambassador of Smart Catch Program as well partner of both Ocean Wise and Fish Choice partner, and The MICHELIN Guide awarded the restaurant a prestigious MICHELIN Green Star.
