Scotland's Glenapp Castle Awarded Michelin Star

Scotland's Glenapp Castle Awarded Michelin Star
The award is one of only three new Michelin Stars in Scotland this year and means that Glenapp Castle with its recently awarded AA 4 Rosettes is now ranked among the best places to dine in the UK.

Glenapp's owners, Graham and Fay Cowan, said today that they "couldn't be more delighted. Our Head Chef Adam Stokes and his team thoroughly deserve this great recognition for their hard work and tremendous skill. We are really proud of them."

Adam Stokes, who trained at Michelin Starred Hambleton Hall in Rutland was awarded four Rosettes from the AA only last week. Adam said "I am thrilled with the award. What a week! 4 AA Rosettes, a Michelin Star and my 30th Birthday. Who needs presents! We have a great team in the kitchen which is vital, but we are also very lucky to have such wonderful local produce and suppliers here on our doorstep in Ayrshire and Galloway."

The coveted Michelin Star award is Glenapp's fourth major accolade in this season. In April, the castle was awarded ‘Romantic Hotel of the Year 2011' at the Scottish Hotel Awards, in May, the castle was named ‘Scotland's Restaurant of the Year' by the CIS Excellence Awards and only last week at The AA Awards, Glenapp Castle was awarded 4 AA Rosettes. Glenapp Castle is now the highest rated hotel in Scotland.

Inclusion in the world famous Michelin Guide is free of charge and completely at the discretion of the editor and his team of anonymous inspectors who make regular unannounced visits to hotels and restaurants. To maintain complete independence, inspectors pay their bills in full, and often do not even reveal their identity when they leave. Readers of the guide are also invited to make comments and suggestions about restaurants and hotels they visit. The guide rates establishments according to their level of luxury, comfort and service, as well as cuisine and only those chefs who really excel within their category will receive the ultimate accolade of a Michelin star.

The castle is open to non-resident diners for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. A prior reservation is required.
