Scottsdale's Montelucia Resort & Spa Introduces New Executive Chef
An established, prominent chef in the Scottsdale culinary scene, Chef Cairns will bring his expertise and enthusiasm to create new epicurean endeavors to Montelucia Resort & Spa, overseeing all aspects of dining including the property's signature restaurant, Prado (pictured above) as well as ROQ Poolside Bistro, room service, catering and special events. In his new role, Chef Cairns plans to add a renewed focus on tapas, featuring grilled meats and steaks. At Prado, Chef Cairns will concentrate on simplicity and incorporate family-style options to the menu.

Cairns has excelled in the hospitality industry for more than 22 years. Prior to joining the Montelucia team, Cairns served as executive chef at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz. where he managed eleven restaurants and an extensive staff of cooks, sous chefs and stewards. His culinary credits also include his position as corporate executive chef at Chateau Elan Hotels & Resorts, and executive chef of the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Florida, among others.

Cairns also received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being honored at the prestigious James Beard House in New York in 2004. In 2003, he was recognized for his culinary skills with the “Best Chef” Critic's Choice Award at the Vail Food & Wine Festival. Additionally, he has been chosen to represent Phoenix at many convention and visitor's bureau events with Gourmet and Bon Appetit magazines across the United States.
