“Everyone's Driven by Something” is the tagline for this year's blockbuster Ron Howard film “Rush” about the 1976 Formula One Season. Driven only by the extraordinary, Motostalgia has announced the addition of the 1977 Shadow DN8 Formula 1 race car, a vehicle which played a significant role in the rivalry portrayed in the film and on the track by race car legends James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The 1977 Shadow DN8 Formula One race car unfolds a dynamic history of a Formula One season that had all the theatrics of an Oscar-winning film.

The Austrian Grand Prix Winner is the latest addition to the collection of 75+ cars included in Motostalgia, one of the world's most exciting collector car auctions to take place during the US Grand Prix weekend in Austin, Texas on Saturday, November 16th, 2013 beginning at 4pm at the Austin Convention Center.

In 1977 entries in the Formula One race counted sixteen different constructors, from Ferrari with its 312 T2 flat-twelve driven by Niki Lauda to upstarts like Ensign. Six different marques won the races, attesting to the competitiveness of the constructors drivers. By season's end, twenty one drivers had scored points driving twelve different marques.

Teams from Roger Penske, Vel's Parnelli Jones and Don Nichols' Shadow represented the highest profile ever for America in F1 racing. The season brought ground breaking first wins for the American Shadow team with Alan Jones in the Austrian Grand Prix held on Osterreichring on August 14, 1977. This is the car now being offered by Motostalgia.

Preserved by Shadow founder Don Nicholas since 1977, along with examples of all of Shadow's most important cars, the Shadow DN8 chassis 4A has been meticulously restored by members of the original Shadow team. Its Cosworth DFV was rebuilt in June 2013 with only Dyno test time. Presented in its Austrian GP winning Tabatip/Ambrosio livery, this is a singularly important and significant American Grand Prix car with a winning and competitive history. A flare of brilliance and perseverance, the Shadow DN8 chassis 4A will be an important addition to any collection of competition cars and the centerpiece of a collection devoted to American efforts in international competition. Its continual history since 1977 in the hands of Don Nichols is unprecedented as is its full restoration by Shadow technicians from the original design drawings and race notes.

Other collector cars being offered include a diverse range including Tazio Nuvolari's 1950 Cistalia-Abarth, a Duesenberg from the Great Gatsby era, a Pur Sang Bugatti Type 51, a 1998 Ferrari once driven by Michael Schumacher, a 1989 Lamborghini Countach Limited Edition, a 1930s Rolland Pilain and many more. So vast and so extraordinary is the collection being offered that a major cable network has been filming the worldwide journeys of Motostalgia as they scoured the globe to find the best collector cars available for auction.
