According to Tauck CEO Dan Mahar, Peru is a great family destination due to its diversity. “Peru has something to please everyone, from incredible history and culture, to fun outdoor activities, to rich culinary traditions. Our Bridges team has crafted an itinerary that choreographs all of these elements into a seamless experience that will please every generation,” said Mahar.

Like all Tauck Bridges journeys, “Mystical Peru” reflects Tauck’s philosophy of “shared enrichment” wherein family members of all generations can experience the bonding, or “bridges,” that result when the fun and learning provided by travel are enjoyed together. Families on “Mystical Peru,” for example, will learn about Peruvian history and the influences of the Incas and Spanish conquistadors when they visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo and Francisco Pizarro’s tomb. They’ll also see the catacombs at Lima’s Monasterio de San Francisco and travel to the stone fortresses at Sacsayhuamán in Cusco. And families will spend a full afternoon with expert guides at Peru’s most famous archeological site, Machu Picchu.

Peruvian culture will be on display during visits to a traditional market in Aguas Calientes, a weaving center, and a pottery studio, and guests will also learn the art of bracelet weaving from local school children, enjoy a fun lesson in playing the Peruvian pan flute, and learn about spiritual traditions from a local shaman. Outdoor activities include a swim with sea lions during a private boat ride off the Peruvian coast, the chance to explore the Sacred Valley on either a horseback ride or rafting trip, and a guided nature walk in Cusco. And families will have the opportunity to sample Peruvian fare during a cooking class at a popular restaurant, in a chocolate making class at the Choco Museo, and at a private “pachamanca,” or traditional barbecue where food is wrapped in banana leaves and then cooked over hot stones.

Included in the price are all accommodations, all gratuities, airport transfers, all ground transportation, all sightseeing, admission to all attractions, all entertainment, most meals, luggage handling, and much more.
