This special tea offers an all-inclusive tableside presentation of tempting sweets and savory snacks in one of the city's most beautiful settings. It is available exclusively on Sunday, December 4, 11, and 18, with reservations available from 3 PM to 4 PM in the Lafayette Room. This indulgent experience is priced at $50 per person, which includes a pot of tea from the Mighty Leaf Tea Company, along with a tiered tray of savory and sweets; $35 for children under 12, or $65 per person with the added glass of Taittinger Champagne (tax and gratuity not included).

With windows looking out over Lafayette Park towards the White House, this sun-lit dining room is a beautiful oasis to celebrate the holiday season, and the hotel will be festively decorated as well, delighting children and adults alike. Furthermore, to complement this culinary experience, Tom Vogt, who the great Lena Horne called her “favorite pianist in Washington,” will enrich the tea experience with holiday songs to make the occasion all the merrier.

The Hay-Adams' culinary team, Executive Chef Nicolas Legret, Executive Sous Chef Jaime Montes de Oca, and Pastry Chef Josh Short are creating a traditional holiday menu featuring flavorful delights for teatime. Guests can enjoy a savory selection of tea sandwiches including English Cucumber with tomato and mint; Farmhouse Egg Salad with wild watercress; Smoked Salmon and Dill Cream Cheese, and Cucumber and Shrimp Salad.

Children can enjoy their own special menu. It features Hot Chocolate and Fruit Teas, Assorted Tea Sandwiches, including Ham & Cheese, Peanut Butter & Marmalade, and a Fresh Fruit Salad.

For those with a sweet tooth, Pasty Chef Josh Short's selection of Viennese and French confectioneries is sure to please the eye and the palate. Highlights include Warm Cranberry Scones with Devonshire cream and organic strawberry preserve; Chocolate Opera Cake, Strawberries Choux Puffs, French Fruit Tartlets, Lemon Raspberry Tart, and Macarons.

The Lafayette Room features teas from the Mighty Leaf Tea Company, which strives to present the most incredible handcrafted tea blends found anywhere, globally sourcing the finest ingredients available. One can choose from black and oolong teas, white and green teas, as well as herbal selections.
