The Aldrovandi Villa Borghese - Five Star Luxury in Rome

The Aldrovandi Villa Borghese - Five Star Luxury in Rome
Located right in the center of the city, but set apart from the noise and hustle in a leafy and exclusive residential neighborhood on the edge of the magnificent Villa Borghese gardens, this intimate, family-run hotel ticks all the boxes in providing a full five-star guest experience.

From the Aldrovandi's quiet and shaded half-acre walled garden with a large terrace and plenty of comfortable seating to the sunny pool area equipped with lounge chairs, towels and attentive but unobtrusive service, to the property's two fine restaurants, the luxurious spa, state of art fitness room, cozy lobby and sitting rooms and large, bright guest rooms and suites, this hotel delivers a superior experience from beginning to end.

While the Aldrovandi Villa Borghese occupies a grand 19th Century villa with polished marble floors, ceilings dripping with chandeliers, rich woodwork and large windows, the atmosphere is cozy and offers and effortless blend of traditional and modern features. The well-equipped exercise room, for instance, boasts a complete range of modern exercise machines that sit on a polished parquet floor amid intricately trimmed walls. The hotel's spa, La Mer, offers a wide range of treatments in a serene setting that includes a sleek, modern looking Jacuzzi room with marble floors and walls. Throughout the hotel, modern amenities like free Wi-Fi and flat screen televisions in every guest room blend seamlessly with furnishings reminiscent of the building's 19th Century pedigree but brightened up with fabrics in soft, light colors.

During my recent stay at the Aldrovandi, I was pleased to find my guest room was much larger than I expected for a European hotel. Not only was the room itself spacious but the bright white marble floor, white walls, tall ceilings and large windows overlooking the garden and pool, gave the space a bright and airy feel. Warm draperies and cozy, upholstered furniture, a magnificent wooden wardrobe and the soft king-sized bed kept the room from seeming cold. The bathroom, too, was unexpectedly large and luxurious. Double sinks, a deep soaking tub and stand up shower provided all the comfort you would expect from a world-class luxury hotel.

Dining is an important part of any visit to Rome and the Aldrovandi Villa Borghese comes through on this important aspect as well with two fabulous restaurants. Assaje offers Mediterranean cuisine and the option to dine on a patio overlooking the garden while The Grill offers a club-like atmosphere and a fireplace for cold winter days. Additionally, you can enjoy a cocktail either in the garden or at the newly renovated, indoor American Bar which offers a chic, urban atmosphere.

Outside the hotel, all of Rome is yours to explore and one more service you might enjoy is the free use of a bicycle to pedal through the surrounding streets and gardens. The Aldrovandi Villa Borghese provides everything you need for a five-star experience in Rome.
