Biscuits, fancies and meringues are all set for the annual couture makeover in the style of the world's top fashion designers, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Giambattista Valli and Dior as The Berkeley in Knightsbridge launches its new Autumn /Winter 2008 Pret-a-Portea collection.

A firm date in every fashionista's diary, Pret-a-Portea is designed to add a creative twist to the classic elements of the traditional English afternoon tea with cakes and pastries inspired by the latest fashion season's catwalk designs for the style conscious.

Pret-a Portea has become a must visit location on the London style map.

This winter season, Pret-a-Portea at The Berkeley includes fashionista delectables such as a Prada lace Valrhona dark chocolate crème, accentuating the current couture lace trend; Smythson yellow "Maze Bag" banana Madeira cake, the musthave accessory of the moment; and Christian Louboutin "Pigalle" green glitter shoe biscuit which certainly can not be missed this season. The crown of the collection is inspired by a stunning new creation from Alexander McQueen composed of a fromage blanc chiffon dress balanced with raspberry meringue.

This winter season also brings the newest 'must see' to the fashion world and the SWI London area with the ultimate fashionista biscuit delivery service. Pret-a-Portea is now available by delivery aboard a Vespa adorned in the famous Pret colours of pistachio green and pale pink complete with handbag take away boxes stowed in a much larger bespoke handbag carrier which perches itself on the back of the Vespa. Fashionista's can send fellow fashion fans set boxes of 10 biscuits for £25 including delivery to the SWI area

The Berkeley pastry chefs visit London fashion week shows to get their inspiration for the colours and the textures of the new collections. Patisserie for the winter collection will echo the season's trends of lace, vibrant colours, hats and exquisite winter chic.

For the ultimate fashion touch the hotel has forged links with Thomas Goode of Mayfair who have produced a bespoke collection of Paul Smith fine bone china to be used for the tea and for the icing on the cake chilled champagne is served in Baccarat crystal flutes.

Pret-a-Portea gift cards and notelets are also available to buy to give someone special an original present. They are designed and illustrated by fashionable artist Anzu and come complete with pink tissue lined envelops.

Pret-a-Portea is served in The Caramel Room at The Berkeley from 2-6pm everyday priced at £35.00 per person. (£43 including a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne, or alternatively for the fashion conscious, £49.00 per person including a glass of couture champagne)
