The Taste of China: A Culinary Journey with The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong
Discovering exquisite corners of China, guests will venture in search of the finest ingredients indigenous to China including the original village where the Chinese Longjing Green Tea plantation is located, Thousand Island Lake, and more. Through this inventive cooking style, the hotel's Chef will utilize the ingredients to create one-of-a-kind culinary experiences, rounding out a memorable sensory exhibition for guests.

A culinary destination that has evolved over the past 5,000 years, China's appreciation of food has played an important role in Chinese culture. Remaining steadfast while incorporating modern techniques, the history of Chinese cuisine is defined by both variety and change. Celebrating the destination's intricate delicacies, two phases of the hotel's ‘Culinary Journey' are available, with further explorations planned for the near future.

Highly regarded as an exquisite art form, Chinese tea has a profound history. The first ‘Culinary Journey' tour with Chef takes guests by private car transportation for a guided tour throughout Mt. Longjing Hangzhou, where nestled within the hills lies a tea village that is renowned for its production of Chinese Longjing Green Tea. Guests will visit one of the most historical tea plantations to learn unique preparation techniques from the plantation's tea master. Once back at the hotel, guests will then utilize their skills to create two specially crafted Chinese Tea-inspired dishes – Green Tea Risotto with Sautéed Lobster and Green Tea Codfish with French Bulla Bees Seafood – during a private cooking class with the chef.
