The new five-star property is owned and managed by TUI AG, a multinational travel and tourism company which invested €23.5 million in the hotel. Slated to open by Fall/Winter 2016, it will be three stories high and designed to blend seamlessly into the Tuscan landscape, with a variety of accommodations from standard rooms to suites, which will feature terraces or private garden areas.

Additional features at the new five-star hotel include a 6,500 square foot restaurant featuring a Mediterranean-inspired menu. Designed in muted and earthy tones, the restaurant will have views overlooking the resort's picturesque valley and a covered veranda with outdoor seating. An 11,000 square foot spa will be home to an indoor-outdoor pool, treatment rooms and a variety of areas designed for relaxation and rejuvenation including a sauna, bio sauna, hammam, salt cave and ice cave. The five-star property will also offer more than 2,000 square feet of meetings space and a 2,000+ square foot gym.

Guests will be able to enjoy Toscana Resort Castelfalfi's current amenities, including the 27-hole Golf Club Castelfalfi, regarded as one of the most challenging in Italy, tennis, a cooking school, the Medieval Borgo (village) with a dozen shops, a separate pool and wellness complex and two restaurants: a trattoria, Il Rosmarino, and the exclusive restaurant, La Rocca di Castelfalfi, as well as activities such as truffle hunting and tasting the estate-produced wine.

A certified Clima Hotel, the energy efficient property is being constructed according to green building principals using traditional, low environment impact materials such as wood and stone, with central biomass heating fueled by woodchips produced on-site. The hotel is designed with great attention to energy efficiency and waste management, thanks to the installation of water filtration system to recycle waste water, a bio-filter that allows for the complete recovery of food waste, the sorting of collected waste and the selection of low emission LED lighting.

The hotel's 120 rooms, characterized by a natural, earthy color palette, will include 67 Standard Rooms (~325 square feet), 24 Superior Rooms (~375 square feet), six handicap-accessible Superior Rooms (~475 square feet), 15 Executive Rooms (~450 square feet) and eight Suites (~650 square feet). Additional lodging options at the resort include a 31-room Hotel La Tabaccaia, 48 apartments in the Medieval village and 18 casali (villas), available for sale or short term stays and a new residential community, La Collina, with 18 apartments under construction.
