Turkish Delight in Istanbul: The Witt Suites

Turkish Delight in Istanbul: The Witt Suites
Spacious and stylish the large rooms feature marble kitchenettes equipped with a Nespresso machine, microwave and various utensils. It was perfect for an early coffee before breakfast or popping open an early evening bottle of wine. The interiors and decor were incredibly thought out and interesting from the birdcage like tables to the soft furnishings and the contrasting mirrored tiled walls. The Ross Lovegrove bathrooms feature clean designs and quite honestly I could have spent hours under the 5 head rain shower, it was simply divine. The King and Queen Panoramic rooms with terraces are an absolute must if you are visiting in the warmer months to enable sitting outside, sipping a Turkish tea and taking in the view.

Witt Suites

Whilst the view of the city is stunning, the location of the hotel does have its pros and cons. It is set away from the busy tourist trap centre which for us was perfect as it is an incredibly short walk to the nearest tram station which whisks you to the culture hotspot of Sultanahmet, home to the blue mosque and Topkapi Pakace, within 5 minutes. Additionally the hotel is perched atop a hill offering a view over the Bosphurus and capital sights in the distance. However there is a very short and quick climb up to the hotel but the road is quite steep and proved a little difficult in the surprising snowy conditions that we faced during our stay in February.

The hotel doesn't feature a restaurant but this was not a concern or issue for us as we were happy to explore the city's local cuisine highlights. Istanbul is famously known as the city where the East meets the West and this permeates into the diverse cuisines on offer. Although there is not a restaurant, breakfast is served till 11 (perfect in case you need a lie in) or you can revel in the height of laziness and have it brought to your room. The choice was a continental mixture of local yogurts, cheeses and breads but there was also a cooked menu with light and substantial choices.

Witt Suites

I would have to say that the staff at The Witt Suites truly added to the enjoyment of our stay as they were incredibly helpful, polite and kind. Whatever you need, at whatever time of day or night they would oblige with the utmost cheerfulness.

Insiders Tip: If you visit in the Summer months be sure to visit the rooftop permaculture garden.
