Set to debut in 2023, The Homestead, a 12-suite eco-conscious ultra-luxury lodge located on the Nambiti reserve in South Africa keeps conservation and adventure alive through its state-of-the-art sustainability integration. A conservationist at heart, Steve Blatherwick, Electric Safari Builder at The Homestead, creates battery-operated electric safari vehicles from Land Rover 2008 models — known as safari favorites and notorious fossil-fuel-burning vehicles. Steve strips the vehicles down and re-invents them to become environmentally sound and super luxurious, complete with barista stations and hibachi grills for longer game drives. In addition to being powered by recycled batteries, the safari vehicles are so silent that the animals on the big five safari adventure will not be alarmed by them, making Steve a crucial part of offering guests the ultimate intimate safari experience.
