Vamizi Island Unveils New Private Villas
The property has recently undergone renovations, opening its fourth brand new villa ‘Casa Marjani' in the Private Villa Collection, with two more additional private villas planned for 2014. Click through to their new website, going live mid-February, to get the latest developments: www.vamizi.com

Miles of unpadded white sand waits to be explored. Sometimes known as the new Maldives, the island boasts:

‧ The Private Villa Collection: 4 private luxury villas designed by award winning architects for larger groups or families, sleep between 12 and 14, with a dedicated Chef, housekeeping staff, and a hospitality manager looking after your every need. 2 new private villas to be completed in 2014

BRAND NEW VILLA: ‘Casa Marjani' has recently opened for guests, with new organic designs, an elevated tree-house bedroom and en-suite bathroom and tower with winding walkways perfect for star-gazing. Using curved organic designs which play on form and structure, the villa uses local coral stone extensively, and hand crafted details and timber carvings hint at a Arabic/Swahili influence

‧ The Lodge: 10 beautiful ‘kitalas', impossibly romantic timber luxury beach front villas, set over 70 meters apart, with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean

‧ The Bar and Restaurant: choose from a range of cocktails or explore a list of fine wines and spirits

‧ The Cuisine: is all about local produce. The catch is prepared into a sumptuous array of dishes for beachside barbeques, remote island picnics or sophisticated lantern-lit glamour

‧ The Sea: Vamizi boasts world-class diving and is nominated as one of the top ten dive sites in the world. Adventurous guests can also enjoy world-class big game fishing (wahoo, dogtooth and yellowfin tuna, giant trevally), estuary kayaking, and catamaran or dinghy sailing. Or simply snorkel straight off the shore, enjoy a sunset dhow cruise, watch dolphins and if you are lucky you might see a humpback whale breach

‧ The Land: stroll inland to see nesting green turtles, giant coconut crabs and rare samango monkeys as well as colourful exotic birds. Make a community visit to the local mwani people and see their traditional fishing villages or take a castaway picnic to a very private corner of the island

‧ One big spa: unwind from the stresses of everyday life with a massage. One big spa, Vamizi nurtures from the inside out, offering some of the best energy and body treatments available using natural recipes borrowed from local women on the island

‧ Yoga teacher: will help you see yourself and your surroundings from a new and far more relaxed angle

‧ Conservation: Vamizi is a conservation and community project aimed at preserving this remote and unique wilderness and improving the livelihoods of its inhabitants as well as an important marine reserve

Slender and crescent-shaped, Vamizi Island nestles within the Quirimbas Archipelago, a string of islands along the length of Mozambique's remote Northern Coast. The Island is a sanctuary, small and intimate, offering the definitive barefoot luxury of your own private island. Just 12 kilometres long and two kilometres wide, Vamizi Island, fringed with gently-shelving beaches and calm waters is a haven for adults and children alike.

With miles of deserted coastline and a tropical ocean to cross, the journey is all part of the adventure. Flights (Direct with KLM & Swissair; Emirates and Qatar via middle east; Kenya Airways and BA via Nairobi or Jo'burg) to Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) or Pemba (Mozambique) connect with a short private flight to the Vamizi Island airstrip
