A Visit to Villa della Pergola and its Gardens in Alassio, Italy
The 22,000 square metre park represents a rare example of English gardens in Italy, where Mediterranean vegetation, rare plants and exotic flora live in harmony.

The tours will run through to the end of October giving visitors the chance to admire the splendid flowering of the Mediterranean maquis and the exotic species that have been introduced to give the garden its unique appearance.

After the perfumed florescence of the wide collection of wisterias (28 varieties), that welcomed springtime at the Gardens, visitors can admire the blooming of spireas, iris and roses.

In June the wonderful florescence of agapanthus, a collection of 350 varieties unique in Europe, creates colorful brush strokes like sea waves. During the summer you can also be delighted by the bloom of Hydrangeas, Solanum, Bigonias, Lantanas, Plumbagoe, Hibiscus, and the Mediterranean scrub reaches its best brightness.

Lotus in the Garden blossoms in July whereas August and September are the months of Olive Trees and citrus trees, whose the garden has a wide botanical collection.

The Relais of Villa della Pergola

The Relais suites offer to their guests a quite unique opportunity to stay in a true architectural masterpiece of the turn of the century. Its history is intimately bound up with the life of the British community that chose this as their favoured shore side location to spend the winters in the years straddling the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. Each of the thirteen suites is dedicated to one of the many historical personalities who stayed at Villa della Pergola, or who were members of the community of Brits in Alassio, evoking memories of that fascinating fin-de-siècle atmosphere.
