Volunteer Vacation Experience to Help Rescued Horses
Guests of the resort are able to volunteer and interact with animals in the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program, and on-site, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides shelter, care and rehabilitation to neglected and abandoned horses in New Mexico.

Travelers can arrange to go to the Stables at Tamaya where they can interact with horses going through the rehabilitation process. They can also work with on-site wranglers and local volunteers to help provide care for the animals such as feeding, grooming, and cleaning stalls, as well as a help to build stables and corrals for new horses in the program. Guests who make a monetary donation to the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program are able to take part in the experience which can be coordinated directly through the resort’s concierge desk.

As many of the horses in the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program become permanent residents at the Stables at Tamaya, guests can also coordinate trail rides with horses that have been rescued and rehabilitation through the program. The horseback rides explore the Southwestern terrain, while showcasing New Mexico’s wildlife and vegetation, ancient Pueblo artifacts and petroglyphs with stunning views of the nearby Sandia Mountains, nearby mesas, and the Rio Grande.

In addition to the volunteer vacation experience at the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program, the resort provides a plethora of unique and exciting experiences for guests.
