Wilderness Safaris Kicks Off Hot Air Ballooning Season in Zambia
The remote location of the 69,000 acre Busanga Concession makes it one of the of the most exclusive hot air ballooning destinations in Africa, offering complete seclusion and stunning scenery to travelers.

During the hot air balloon safari, guests will enjoy a bird's eye view of the spectacular surrounds and high concentrations of wildlife, including thousands of red lechwe and puku, as well as regular sightings of hippo and buffalo. A delicious champagne breakfast follows, served in the Park's vast grasslands.

The hot air ballooning season runs from August until the end of October and guests who spend three nights or more at Wilderness Safaris' two camps in the area - Shumba Camp and Busanga Bush Camp - can enjoy a hot air balloon ride at no extra cost.

Aside from the excellent hot air ballooning opportunities, there are a range of activities on offer such as guided walking safaris and game drives, all of which make the most of the area's prolific wildlife. Kafue is often noted for having the most varied antelope viewing on the continent and is also known for its population of tree-climbing lions, captured in the National Geographic documentary, 'Swamp Lions.'

Shumba and Busanga Bush Camps are seasonal, open annually from July 1 through October 31. Busanga is an intimate safari camp with four well-appointed tents, while Shumba offers six spacious and luxurious safari tents (including one family tent) on raised platforms.

Guests staying at Shumba Camp will also be able to enjoy the completely remodelled and rebuilt main area, which has undergone a comprehensive and stylish soft refurbishment. A new raised wooden viewing deck has been also been built, where guests can relax and enjoy an elevated vantage point of the productive surrounding Busanga Plains.
