Awasi is a place to enjoy the natural splendor of the Atacama Desert without compromising privacy, personal comfort, or relaxation - with only 8 dwellings, each guest room has over 550 sq. ft., a private patio, reading area, and outdoor shower.

The architecture blends with the outside environment, as the hotel was constructed using the native materials of adobe, stone, and wood. Each dwelling has a private guide and vehicle assigned, allowing guests to design and choose any of the outings or walks they find most attractive - then customized to their interests, objectives and physical condition, without adjusting their trip to the pace or preference of other guests. In all its offerings, Awasi focuses on the smallest details to ensure a harmonious balance of relaxation & adventure, luxury & authenticity, and simplicity & sophistication.

Awasi is made up of only eight adobe bungalows in the middle of the vast Atacama Desert, all with private outdoor patio, reading area, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Guests are free to relax in the privacy of the guestrooms or on one of the many cozy sofas and hammocks located in the large open air lobby.

Awasi is located in the historic oasis desert town of San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, providing the utmost in luxury, adventure and relaxation. Each room is assigned with a private guide and 4WD vehicle to embark on special outings to the nearby volcanoes, dry salt lakes, ponds, and other natural features that make the Atacama experience unforgettable. Awasi prepares customized excursions depending on guest preferences.

Desert Excursions (a sampling of the many outings providing by Awasi):

Moon Valley: This very arid terrain produces salt and sand dunes so striking that it takes on the appearance of the moon. A wonderful place to watch the sunset, roam by horseback, or take a walk.

Flamingo Reserve: Among vast salt lakes and drastic backdrops, the flamingo reserve is home to thousands of birds. An ideal place to watch the sunset.

Puritama Volcanic Hot Springs: Natural hot springs formed in existing craters of dormant volcanoes. A lovely place to relax and enjoy a light meal in the sun.

Tatio Geysers: After crossing high plateaus and ponds, the Tatio Geysers exist erupting numerous times daily. Additionally, the geysers are home to rare flora and wildlife of the region.

GETTING THERE

From Santiago (SCL) take a 2 hour flight from Santiago to Calama Airport (CJC)

Calama - 1 hour by car (98 kilometers). All guests will be picked up at Calama Airport by hotel staff and driven in private car to Awasi.

The best time to go is September to December, when its springtime in the desert.
