Blanket Bay is situated just outside of Glenorchy, a small town at the northern head of Lake Wakatipu. It is here that Peter Jackson chose to film the epic movie trilogy, Lord of the Rings.

Accommodation at Blanket Bay is provided in five intimate Lodge Rooms, three generous Lodge Suites in the main lodge, and four superb Chalet Suites all filled with sumptuous furnishings and elegant rugs. Natural materials are showcased throughout, echoing the Lodge's natural interaction with the environment. All rooms within the lodge are placed to take full advantage of the magnificent lake and mountain vistas.

The elegant Lake View Evening Dining Room with beamed ceiling and stone fireplace is where dinner is served on individual tables. For the more intimate occasion, the Wine Cave is a perfect venue for private dining and can be reserved for up to six people. Under a clear southern sky The Terrace is a magnificent setting with the fire behind and the mountain and lake vistas unfolding around you.

4 Chalet Suites - The chalets contain two 700 sq. ft suites each with their own stone fireplace, large bathrooms, lake deck and private courtyards. The Chalet Suites are available individually or can be combined with an additional spacious living room to create the 1,400 sq.ft. Richardson Staterooms.

3 Lodge Suites - 3 magnificent 700 sq.ft. Suites offer bedroom and sitting areas which have their own stone fireplace, spacious bathroom with steam shower and separate tub and private terraces featuring heart-stopping views of the Lake.

5 Lakeside Lodge Rooms - 580 sq.ft. Located in the main lodge, lakeside rooms feature their own balcony or terrace, super-kingsize bed, sitting area and armoire.

No detail has been overlooked in the provision of the two meeting rooms. The Board Room, which seats 12 in soft leather chairs, has expansive views over the lake whilst the 24-seat Internal Conference Room is fully equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment. Both rooms have fireplaces. Break-out Rooms are available, and when work sessions are complete the comprehensive in-house leisure facilities are unmatched in New Zealand.

GETTING THERE

12 minutes by helicopter and about 45 minutes by car from Queenstown. Helicopter or chauffeur driven transfers can be arranged on request.

Directions: From Queenstown Airport, drive 9 miles to Queenstown, go through Queenstown Township then 28 miles north along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy. Drive 1 km/0.5 mile past Glenorchy airstrip turn left into Blanket Bay.
