ROOMS & SUITES: 20 Located in the heart of Cerro Alegre and facing an impressive view of the bay of Valparaiso, Casa Higueras is the first boutique hotel in this UNESCO World Heritage port town.
Located in the heart of Cerro Alegre and facing an impressive view of the bay of Valparaiso, Casa Higueras is the first boutique + design hotel to open in this port town. Following a careful restoration, this 1920s mansion has been converted into a charming hotel. Casa Higueras strives to bring together modern amenities with the warmth of the past, a nostalgic comfort that reflects the rhythm and character of Valparaiso.
It was here, beginning in the middle of the 19th century, that English and German immigrants built their homes and surrounded them with beautiful gardens, which gave way to the name Cerro Alegre (Cheerful Hill). Given its location on a sloping hill, the neighborhood acts as a balcony from which one can enjoy the view of Valparaiso. The hotel is located steps from the Yugoslavo Walkway and the century-old El Peral funicular, in a city zone declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The simple facade of the hotel hides a sophisticated interior and cozy boutique hotel more than 1,600 square meters in size that nearly reaches el plan and its extension. Casa Higueras occupies the five floors of the original mansion, housing 20 exclusive guestrooms designed with good taste and elegance. Seen from the Cordillera hills and from the Prat Pier, Casa Higueras looks much like a Mediterranean villa, with its terraces, stairs and sun shades. At the garden level, a spectacular pool with lounge chairs and a spa invite total relaxation.
The living area next to the restaurant provides a cozy ambiance and is the ideal spot for reading while relaxing in one of our comfortable chairs, and the fantastic views of the bay seen from here makes having a cup of tea or coffee next to the chimney an even more pleasurable experience. The decor of Casa Higueras makes us imagine a historic past. Dark wood together with subtle illumination creates a stately ambiance, with a light touch of the style of Valparaiso in the 1930s. Photographs from the era as well as traditional Valparaiso places pay homage and invite guests to venture the experience of the port's bohemian nightlife.
In a garden with tiered terraces typical of the port's hills and surrounded by figs, elms, palms, ombúes and an enormous monkeypuzzle tree, is Casa Higueras' pool and spa. Within this space are a sauna, open-air Jacuzzi, and massages using natural products, creating a harmonious atmosphere that renews the body and mind. Situated on the roof of the hotel, the panoramic terrace is the ideal place to watch the sun set over Valparaiso, and enjoy the slow appearance of hundreds of lights that begin lighting the hills of the city.
