Lake Atitlan, a gorgeous, mystical body of water in the Guatemalan highlands about 90 miles from Guatemala City, is one of the great landmarks of Central America.

There are few better ways to take in the view than at Casa Palopo, a beautiful villa built on the hills surrounding Santa Catarina Palopó village, on the shores of Lake Atitlán and overlooking it's magnificent volcanoes; Atitlán, Tolimán and San Pedro.

Activities in this wonderful place range from a relaxing massage in guest rooms, laying by the pool, horse back riding, visits to the Maya communities surrounding the lake or to the handicraft markets at Chichicastenango or Sololá. And for those who seek a little extra adrenaline rush a vibrant hike on the volcanoes or water-skiing in the fresh waters of the lake.

The hotel has 1 master suite 3 suites 1 Jr. suite and 4 deluxe rooms. The main structure contains most of these rooms and the main dining and lounging areas, a small pool. All the rooms have private outdoor terraces that command incredible views to the lake and the three volcanoes that surround it. Even the beautiful bathrooms have this splendid view. The bathrooms are provided with a full line of Aveda bath and skin care products. Frette bed linens and towels and bath robes are also for guest enjoyment.

The Villa is adjacent to the hotel and consists of 2 bedrooms that are finished with Guatemalan artefacts, art and antiques from around the world. Each bedroom has a private terrace and bathroom with separate shower and deep soaking tubs, with magnificent views. The villa enjoys a private 50 feet long lap pool, spa, indoor and outdoor living and dining areas, library, office and full kitchen.

By the pool there is an area of relaxation, complete with outdoor fireplace for lounging in the evening. This villa is perched at the top of the hill, commanding incredible views, and spectacular sunsets.
