Cibolo Creek Ranch comprises three restored pre-Civil War adobe forts, situated on a 25,000-acre Longhorn cattle ranch. The Ranch sits in the Chinati Mountains in Shafter, north of Presidio at an elevation that ranges from 4,000 to 6,000 feet. Originally founded in the 1800's by cattle baron Milton Faver, the ranch has been restored to its late 19th century splendor by John Poindexter. The ranch's three restored forts, originally constructed to provide protection from the Apaches and Comanches, provides luxurious guest accommodations. A variety of activities can be enjoyed at the ranch, from fishing in the nearby lake, paddleboating, and clay target shooting to bird and bat watching, jeep tours of the area to view the countryside and wildlife.
