WHISTLER/BLACKCOMB is made up of three areas: Whistler's main village, the Upper Village and Whistler Creekside. The exclusive new Nita Lake Lodge is located at Whistler Creekside, a 7-minute drive south of Whistler's main village. The ski and snowboard season lasts from November to August. Choose from steeps, deeps, chutes, high alpine bowls, glades, superb corduroy or long cruisers. Have a go at Blackcomb's World Cup Superpipe, natural launch pads, hits, wind lips, cornices, cliff drops and ridges. The mountains offer over 200 marked trails, with 12 magnificent bowls and each with a vertical drop exceeding 1,524 metres (5,000 feet). Winter also brings snowshoeing, sleigh rides, dog-sledding, skating, and glacier skiing. In warm weather, the natural landscape challenges with superb golf, hiking, kayaking, white water rafting, mountaineering and mountain biking. RECREATION Whistler Museum - Whistler's history is entertaining and very much a part of Whistler's character. Visit the museum that is growing along with its town. Nicklaus North Golf Course - The 18-hole, 6,908 yard, par 71 Nicklaus North Golf Course offers spectacular views of snow-capped peaks, an emerald lake and beautiful fir trees. Bear Viewing and Mountain Ecology Tours - May to October. Experience unforgettable views of wildlife, glacial peaks and sunsets as you travel through the old-growth coastal hemlock and cedar forests of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Some 50 black bears make their home here, including 12 mothers who share their territories with a growing number of daughters. Accompany researcher Michael Allen as he guides you through some of the most pristine black bear habitat in North America. Navigate mountain access roads and rolling green trails in a comfortable four-wheel-drive vehicle to visit active bear dens, day beds and feeding sites and perhaps witness evening play between a mother and her cubs! Whistler Eco-Tours - May through September. Green Lake Ghost Town Tour: Paddle to the north shore of Green Lake and explore the historic ghost town. All guided tours offer educational fun for the family. Tour length is 3 hours. Ziptrek Ecotours - Advance reservation required. Ride on a series of steel cables and suspension bridges to see Whistler's ancient forests from aerial platforms, bridges and trails. Tours last approximately three hours and depart daily from Ziptrek's base in Whistler Village. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. FINE DINING Apres Restaurant - Nestled centrally in Whistler Village, après is truly a unique and very special Whistler Restaurant. Chef Eric Vernice offers his take on slow food with a menu emphasizing local ingredients and regional wines.
