Or perhaps it should be the other way round, so fantastically luxurious are these handbuilt watercraft. With king-sized beds arrayed with Frette bedlinen for nights at sea, Philippe Starck bathroom fittings, Bose sound systems, soft rugs and silk cushions, these fabulous dhonis are the ultimate in privacy and luxury. When land beckons, guest can retire to huge and airy thatched bungalows that are totally hidden amongst the lush foliage for total seclusion. Air-conditioned and furnished with glamorous and witty rustic chic, each has an outdoor dining area, a luxury bathroom with a private courtyard, an espresso machine and a fabulous sound system. Two also have freshwater plunge pools whilst each gives onto a private stretch of beach overlooked by traditional carved wooden swing beds in which to laze away the hours.

Wherever and whenever is Dhoni Mighili's philosophy and accordingly guests can dine anytime and anywhere, either on the chef's delicious suggestions or on personal favourites. Dinner at sea under the stars, lunch at the water's edge or breakfast in a secluded spot on the silver sand; nothing is too much trouble.

Guests are free to roam the transparent seas of the Ari Atoll as they please in their air-conditioned, fully crewed Dhoni in truly decadent style. Imagine, for example, setting sail for a gourmet picnic on a deserted island with one of the spa's expert therapists on board for a spot of aromatherapy en-route. There are only 6 luxuriously appointed fully air-conditioned Dhonis, each partnered with its own intimate Beach Bungalow with outdoor bathroom and waterfall showers. These 65-ft traditionally handcrafted Maldivian sailboats are the epitome of simple elegance. The Dhonis have both the traditional ivory sail and a motor; sail or cruise -- the choice is yours. The bow of the Dhoni is inviting with its comfy daybeds overflowing with cushions to laze on in the sunshine. At night your Thakuru will transform this area into a sensual setting for dining under the stars whilst out at sea. An inviting King Size bed with Frette Linen and goose down duvet graces the beautifully decorated cabins. They also boast Smeg kitchen appliances, Philippe Starck bathroom fittings, plush rugs, and silk cushions in an array of natural tones. In-cabin entertainment -- 20" LCD screen with Bose DVD Surround Theatre -- is discreetly enclosed behind a wooden panel.

The bar is open 24 hours for guests to help themselves to the finest selection of champagne, wine, spirits and imported beers that have been meticulously selected by our Master of Wine. There is always a host on hand to mix the perfect margarita. An extensive Reserve Wine list is also available.

4 Luxury Dhonis with Beach Bungalow and Plunge Pool - While similar to the Beach Bungalows, and with the same amenities, the four Beach Bungalows with Plunge Pool offer a much larger private courtyard with your very own private freshwater Plunge Pool.

2 Luxury Dhonis with Beach Bungalow - With their rustic charm, these thatched bungalows set amongst luxuriant tropical foliage and facing the pristine lagoon, engage all of the senses. Natural materials are used for furnishings that have been sourced throughout Asia and beyond. The Bungalows are fully air-conditioned, have an overhead fan, espresso machine, private bar, outdoor dining setting and sound system. The luxury bathroom is graced with L'Occitane en Provence amenities. A deep bath leads to a secluded, private walled courtyard with its own tropical shower open to the sun and stars.
