Rooms & Suites: 154

Formerly the summer mansion of Napoleon III and Empress Eugenia, now among the most beautiful hotels in the world, the Hotel du Palais overlooks Biarritz main beaches.

Cradled by the beaches of Biarritz for 120 years, Hôtel du Palais is a 154 room former palace which was commissioned as a private residence by Napoleon III to establish the town as “the queen of resorts and a resort for kings” and has played host to many well-known personalities from the literary and arts worlds including Charlie Chaplin and Ernest Hemingway. Rooms and suites, which look out onto the Atlantic Ocean, reflect the ‘belle époque’ era in which the hotel was born, and are fitted with Burmese teak, Carrara marble and Italian glass mosaics. Antique furniture, turn-of-the-century Lalique-style lamps, and gilded cabinets and chandeliers feature throughout the hotel and contribute towards a majestic atmosphere. In an authentic touch, all fabrics and upholstery at Hôtel du Palais are individually designed and produced by hand in the hotel’s very own workshop. Hôtel du Palais is home to three restaurants, including one Michelin starred Villa Eugenie, which serves mouth-watering rich French cuisine featuring locally caught seafood and regional produce.
