Kasbah du Toubkal - Morocco - Luxury Lodge

Rooms & Suites: 8 rooms, 1 private house with 3 rooms and 3 Berber salons

Kasbah du Toubkal is a Luxury Hotel with 8 rooms & 1 suite, recommended for: Adventure, Romance, Executive Retreats. Situated above the village of Imlil and in view of the highest mountain in North Africa the setting is exceptional — Martin Scorsese used it as a set for his film about the Dalai Lama.

The Kasbah has been transformed using traditional methods, from the home of a Feudal Caid into an unprecedented haven. Eight ensuite bedrooms, 3 Berber salons and a self-contained 3-bedroom ensuite luxury house. Overnight accommodation for 22+. Day excursions including lunch and a guided walk from Marrakech. No motorized traffic there, no chair lifts or fast food restaurants, no smelly or polluted city air. Just the braying of the mules, the rush of water over the rocks, the sounds of the villagers living their lives and the ethereal call to prayer from the local mosque echoing over the valleys and bouncing off the rock walls. We recommended this hotel for: The Kasbah is particularly suitable for groups and families. The Kasbah is a welcoming environment for those seeking superb rooms in a stunning setting and for those who are searching for a venue that inspires providing peace in a spectacular and rural location.

Accolades & Articles

"Cinema buffs may recognize this place from its starring role as a Tibetan monastery in Kundun, Martin Scorsese’s film about the Dalai Lama. It's less plush than Richard Branson's nearby Tamadot, but it's higher up the mountain, which certainly counts for something. Seekers on a budget can opt for dormitory-style shared-bath accommodations, where the only luxury is the view. More typical accommodations range from standard rooms on up to a separate private house and a three-bedroom villa. And while all of the bathrooms (dorm rooms excepted) are first-class, the Toubkal lacks such ordinary luxuries as television. The point of this place, after all, is not luxury-hotel efficiency, but other-worldly transcendence — and if you can come away from the Kasbah du Toubkal unchanged by the experience, than you're made of some pretty stern stuff." - Area-Daily.com

Leisure

The Kasbah is a perfect place just to relax and unwind from the pressures of modern day life, but of course there is more: Ascent of Jbel Toubkal, Walking and trekking and Ski mountaineering. Explore the village, nearby hamlets and the surrounding mountain landscape, on foot or by mule, or just put your feet up and relax on the terrace or in the "Hammam" (steam bath).

Explore

At 1800 meters above sea level, The Kasbah unobtrusively looks out over three major valleys carved out of majestic Rocky Mountains rising to over 4000 meters. This is the home of eleven villages of the Ait Mizane tribe of the High Atlas. Not a lost or uncivilized world but certainly one where you can lose yourself, you can organize your own time completely or they can provide a range of options for you. You can incorporate a stay at The Kasbah with a further voyage of discovery in Morocco or it can be an end in itself. Only occasionally in life do you really know that you have been somewhere special and although you might stay in places that are as exotic, you are unlikely to surpass the experience of the Kasbah and the memories will remain forever.
