Talk about a Classic! The Fairmont offers an incredible history from the Golden Age of San Francisco. Located at the only spot in the city where each of the cable car lines meet, the hotel sits atop Nob Hill affording breathtaking views of the city and the bay. Designed in the Beaux Arts-style by celebrated architect Julia Morgan of Hearst Castle fame, the hotel opened one year to the day after the devastating 1906 earthquake that destroyed so much of San Francisco, celebrating the rebirth of this great city. Delegates met here in 1945 to draft the United Nations Charter and starting with Harry Truman, every U.S. president has stayed at The Fairmont San Francisco. The Fairmont became known to television audiences worldwide as the luxurious St. Gregory Hotel in Aaron Spelling's 1980's TV drama series starring James Brolin and Connie Sellecca. The hotel's classic lobby is still one of San Francisco's central meeting places. And to top it all off - it was in the hotel's ornate Venetian Room, where Tony Bennett first sang his signature tune, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". You can't get any more romantic than that!
