51 Buckingham Gate, Taj Suites & Residences Unveils the Cinema Suite

From the striking study inspired by great masters such as Satyajit Ray, Francis Ford Coppola, and Ingmar Bergman to the cultured and brassy living room evoking the spirit of World Cinema leaders including Majidi, Wong Kar-Wai and Almodovar, from the Monroe themed master bedroom to the colonial infused second bedroom which houses works reminiscent of maestros like Guru Dutt, Merchant Ivory and Bimal Roy, the Cinema Suite is a fascinating visual and tactile journey.

‘The design incorporates elements of 1940's and 1950's Hollywood and 1950's Indian Cinema; guests will find reference to Francis Ford Coppola in the study, The Stepford Wives in the kitchen, and experience touches of the golden Hollywood era of Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe throughout the bedrooms. Here, the design also recalls the lives of renowned Indian artists such as Guru Dutt and Merchant Ivory, as well as classic Indian narratives like Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam and Heat & Dust. ‘

From the leather Chesterfield to the handmade antique furnishing, art to glassware, rugs to taxidermy, the Suite is a celebration of personalized detail and global culture. Almost every piece is handmade, celebrating artisan crafts and artwork from across the globe. Guests will marvel at breathtakingly rare Bollywood film prints, remarkable history books, vintage mirrors and a myriad of portraits and drawings. Each wall is a work of art in itself, with striking Nina Campbell wallpapers in burnt orange, black and red, laden with curios collected from over 32 different cultures. Sumptuous silk drapery, magnificent oak flooring, priceless antique furniture, rare Chinese porcelain, Bhutanese frames and 1920's embroidered Indian lamps, all adorn the suite. ‘

‘Technology blends in lovingly as well. At the epicenter of the Suite, there is an 85-inch plasma TV with a state-of-the-art home theater system created by Steinway Lyngdorf, offering a preloaded selection of over 300 movies and music compilations - an unparalleled and immersive viewing experience in the heart of London. To heighten the senses, master chefs have developed gastronomic menus that celebrate global cuisine, while the en suite Bar adds to the headiness of this magical atmosphere. With a repertoire of great films, brilliant music and fascinating books, the Cinema Suite is an acknowledgement of time well spent amidst film, art, culture and great company.‘While utterly different in style, the Cinema Suite is the second designer collaboration for 51 Buckingham Gate, following the launch of its sibling, the world's first Jaguar Suite, conceived by Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum and opened in Autumn 2011.
