Historic Casa Grande at Vermejo Park Ranch Reopens After Massive Renovation
Built just after the turn of the 20th century by business magnate William H. Bartlett and later used as a private residence by Ted Turner, the reopening of the seven-bedroom Casa Grande marks the return of luxury to northern New Mexico. Casa Grande is available for individual bookings or exclusive use, and joins existing accommodations at Vermejo Park Ranch (590,000 acres, on par with the size of Canyonlands, Zion and Redwood National Parks, combined) in providing guests with authentic nature and wildlife experiences through the newly created Ted Turner Expeditions ecotourism venture.

Casa Grande was constructed in 1907-1909 by Joseph Lyman Silsbee (mentor of the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright) as a private residence for Bartlett. After changes in ownership throughout the decades, Ted Turner purchased Vermejo Park Ranch in 1996. In 2012, he began a nearly four-year renovation of the 25,000-square-foot home, designed meticulously to retain the home's original Shingle and Victorian style and ambiance.

"Casa Grande is a national treasure set amidst the national treasure that is America's West. By opening this mansion to global travelers, I invite visitors to explore our American heritage and assist in its preservation," said Turner.

The renovation of this masterpiece includes the restoration of original architectural design features including: the iconic ballroom, kitchen, breakfast room, butler's quarters, sitting room, pool room, study, two master bedrooms, five additional bedrooms, sitting room, and conservatory.

Room rates at Casa Grande begin at $850 per night for two and include all meals (excluding alcohol) and non-guided activities.
