Hotel Barriere Le Majestic Cannes in the Limelight at the Cannes Film Festival
The Festival is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the cinema world, drawing 200,000 film-buffs, 35,000 industry professionals and 4,000 journalists to this famous French Riviera resort.

A star among stars, the Hôtel Majestic has been cinema’s loyal partner since François André, the group’s founder, made the casinos available to the Festival’s inaugural event in 1946. Every year since, the hotel has been the place to be seen during the two-week event, as documented by the 2,500 photos of film directors and stars such as Francis Ford Coppola, Robert de Niro, Steven Spielberg, Morgan Freeman, Monica Bellucci, Marion Cotillard and Gong Li adorning the walls of this palatial property. Over 500 television and radio programs will produce or broadcast at the Majestic during the Festival.

The Penthouse Majestic, the hotel’s most prestigious suite located on the Côte d’Azur, is occupied throughout the festival. The Penthouse Majestic offers guests 2,133 square feet of space in a duplex layout coupled with unique facilities such as a private hair salon, fitness room and a 492 square foot rooftop terrace with a swimming pool. Located on the seventh floor of the Majestic, the Penthouse has incredible views over the Bay of Cannes and the steps of the Palais des Festivals. Prices for the Penthouse during the Festival begin at $41,874 a night.

Hôtel Majestic prepares its gastronomy offerings for the Festival celebrations, with 1,764 pounds of lobster, 772 pounds of foie gras and 110 pounds of caviar to be consumed during the course of the Festival. Additionally, the hotel boasts 15,000 bottles of Champagne, 10,000 bottles of the best vintage French wines, 551 pounds of chocolate and 20,000 macarons for guests to indulge. The hotel’s restaurants La Petite Maison de Nicole, Le Fouquet’s Cannes and La Plage will serve 25,000 meals, either at tables or during receptions, hosting as many as a thousand guests.

Behind the scenes, the hotel’s 700 employees, compared to 300 during the winter, are on hand during the Festival to ensure that guests and festival-goers receive the renowned high-quality service for which the hotel is famous. Housekeeping staff will clean 10,000 dinner jackets and evening dresses, in addition to providing the equivalent of six football fields of perfectly ironed sheets.

Spa Diane Barrière by Clarins will hold 700 beauty sessions and massage treatments during the 12 days of the Festival. If guests need an outfit for the red carpet, they are invited to head up to the Dior Suite on the sixth floor to visit the showroom of the haute-couture designer. To add to the Festival glamour, the hotel will adorn 8,000 roses throughout the property.

The Cannes Film Festival is an event of financial importance for the Majestic, as it brings in 15 percent of its annual turnover in just 12 days. During this period, the hotel has a 100 percent occupancy rate, with its 349 guestrooms and suites booked a year in advance for all 12 nights of the festival.
