Spend Christmas in Santa's Backyard

Spend Christmas in Santa's Backyard
The Great Canadian Travel Company has announced a new 8-day 7-night Christmas holidays program at Blachford Lake Lodge in Canada's remote Northwest Territories. The Lodge is a luxurious fly-in getaway that lies north of the 60th parallel at Blachford Lake, not far from Yellowknife and Great Slave Lake. This is the lodge that was visited by Prince William and Kate Middleton during their trip to northern Canada in 2011.

“The Ultimate Canadian Christmas” will take place December 21-28, 2013, and is priced at $3910 per person, double occupancy.

Spend a festive week in a cozy atmosphere while the Northern Lights are dancing outside, enjoy a book or swap stories near the giant Christmas tree. You can experience the winter wonderland on a dog sled, snowmobile or ice skates. You can soak outside in a bubbling hot tub or snuggle in bed while you watch the Aurora Borealis. Snowshoeing and skiing are also available.

Included in the package are two nights' accommodation in Yellowknife, round-trip on float plane from Yellowknife to Blachford, and five nights' all inclusive accommodation at Blachford Lake Lodge. Also included are gourmet meals and snacks, two interpretive tours per day, use of lodge facilities and gratuities. During this program, a special Christmas feast, Christmas caroling, decorating the giant Christmas tree, and a visit from Santa are on tap. Two interpretive tours a day and instruction on aurora photography are also included.
