The Legacy Suites at The Plaza New York Make Their Debut

The Legacy Suites at The Plaza New York Make Their Debut
“The residential style of our Legacy Suites makes them the perfect escape for a quick getaway or an extended stay,” said George Cozonis, managing director of The Plaza. “Classic crown molding is juxtaposed against contemporary works of art and lavish fabrics, adding a vibrant textural element to the space. Dramatic lighting and beautifully finished woodwork complete the look, and the entire experience is complemented by a service experience designed for our most discerning guests.”

As the name suggests The Legacy Suites pay homage to the rich history and heritage of The Plaza. While the hotel is respectful of its storied past, The Plaza continues to evolve and The Legacy Suites are the newest page in its ongoing history book. Named for the iconic locations and celebrated individuals who have been part of The Plaza's history, The Legacy Suites are firmly rooted in today with decor that is contemporary, yet complementary to the historic elements of the building.

New York-based Champalimaud has redesigned the iconic suites updating and enhancing the most vibrant jewels of the storied hotel's crown. The suites have been transformed through the studio's deft understanding of how to mingle bespoke pieces with a subtle sense of architecture to create a composition grounded in timeless design with a modern edge.

Hand-tufted rugs complement the dark floors of the space, providing a dramatic update to the rooms. Taking inspiration from the property's proximity to New York's Central Park, the suites are strewn with floral and botanical elements. The space utilizes a variety of custom-designed furniture pieces, which display subtle details that harken to the property's timeless charm such as carved gilded legs on the sitting rooms' lounge chairs, a custom-designed lighting piece sporting soft amber-hued crystals in a circular torrent. The space's casement pieces, coffee and side tables are covered in mirrored glass, black lacquer, marble and delicate gold-leaf.

A sumptuous mixture of velvets, leathers and silks comprise the space's textiles program, which features rich chevron patterns combined with abstracted mark-making adding to the overall subtly and opulence of the room. The custom-designed art program showcases a mixture of New York City's famed cultural landmarks including the ballet, contemporary abstract painting and classical still-lives. The design tells a story that honors the longevity of the property while transforming its spaces into a fresh, modern and inviting contemporary context.

Unrivalled luxury and comfort are complemented by attentive, discreet and personalized service. The Plaza's Legacy Suites include a number of amenities thoughtfully designed to ensure a curated and seamless experience that begins the moment of booking with a dedicated reservation line and a personal pre-arrival concierge to help orchestrate the stay from the first inquiry. Guests enjoy discreet white glove butler service and to ensure guests get the most out of the destination, each suite has a direct connection to the concierge desk. And, finally, the guest service team will ensure that suite is prepared to the guest's preference, including personalized stationery and in residence business cards.
