Arriving in fall 2019, Andaz Palm Springs will be the mid-century, design-inspired destination’s newest luxury lifestyle hotel. Featuring 150 guestrooms, the hotel will be located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, on the famed North Palm Canyon Road. The hotel, designed by Chapi Chapo out of Toronto, Canada, is being built as a collection of small buildings and guest room bungalows, surrounding two outdoor pools and garden areas on an elevated patio terrace. It will feature striking panoramic views of the San Jacinto Mountains and city. Natural light will pour into all meeting spaces and all guest rooms will have private, walk-out terraces. The hotel’s signature Argentinian restaurant is being built with incredible views overlooking the main pool and San Jacinto Mountains as a backdrop. The restaurant will feature creative and sustainable local cuisine and premium cuts of steak, traditional South American-inspired seafood, ceviches and handmade empanadas will be menu stand-outs. Additionally, an open-air lounge will sit adjacent to the indoor/outdoor signature restaurant, and a poolside bar will lend itself to dramatic sunsets against the mountains. Approximately 10 retail spaces will occupy the hotel’s first floor, offering convenient, contemporary restaurant and fashion retail experience.

The Mergui Archipelago lies off the far south coast of Myanmar. It’s comprised of hundreds of islands that have coral reefs and beaches. The Mergui is home to the seafaring indigenous Moken people. It’s a heaven for birds, notably the plain-pouched hornbill, as well as marine life like dugongs and turtles.

The 200-room resort will boast two swimming pools separated by a cascading waterfall grotto; salon; four dining outlets including beachside taco-and-tequila eatery with one of the largest collection of house-made hot sauces; food truck; library filled with vintage paper-backs; winding nature trail; boating dock; and pet amenities including doggie beach tikis. Located on the Gulf side of the Overseas Highway, this resort is tucked away on 13 acres of tropical groves situated on a former pineapple plantation previously owned by namesake Captain Ben Baker. This year, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz will be celebrating its 150th anniversary with a forty-five million dollar renovation to its flagship property Grand Hotel Quellenhof, originally built in 1869. To be unveiled July 2019, architect Claudio Carbone will be modernizing the Grand Dame with contemporary décor throughout the new guestrooms, and completely rebuilding the lobby, restaurant and bar. The resort has also partnered with well- renowned Swiss chef Sven Wassmer, who will be implementing two new restaurants to replace the former Bel-Air restaurant within the Grand Hotel Quellenhof. These new restaurants will introduce two different concepts: 1) a health restaurant, where health-conscious cuisine is both entertaining and interactive; 2) a signature restaurant of Chef Wassmer, an informal dining experience with an open show kitchen and spectacular wine cellar, five nights a week. Additionally, both restaurants will have an extensive wine menu curated by Chef Wassmer’s wife, wine director Amanda Wassmer-Bulgin, who is currently a stage 2 Master of Wine student.

Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is striving to become THE culinary destination with the new restaurant concept by Sven Wassmer, who achieved two Michelin-stars in his last position and 18 GaultMillau points. Together with the Michelin-starred restaurant IGNIV by Andreas Caminada, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz will be the first hotel and resort in Switzerland having such a variety of gourmet restaurants.

Following the 2017 opening of Wilderness Safaris’ iconic Bisate Lodge which gained immense visitor traction, Rwanda is gearing up for another year of widespread ecotourism, primarily focused on the conservation of the country’s endangered wildlife. To add to the excitement, Wilderness Safaris will open a new camp in Rwanda's Akagera National Park in March 2019—Magashi Camp. This six-tented camp, featuring a luxurious lounge, dining and bar area, wine cellar and pool, will be situated in the north-eastern part of Akagera overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga (home to one of Africa's highest hippo densities, some very large crocodiles, and the secretive stitatunga and shoebill stork). Akagera has undergone an incredible transformation in the last eight years where poaching has essentially been eliminated and wildlife is now thriving. Guests will be able to view a range of wildlife on expertly-guided game drives, walks and boating trips, including recently reintroduced lions and black rhinoceros. Other animal sighting opportunities will include: buffalo, leopard, elephant, giraffe, spotted hyaena, zebra, topi, roan, eland and almost 500 species of birds.
