A staff of more than a hundred scientists, researchers, support staff, volunteers and workers dedicate their time to the restoration and conservation efforts of their sustainable development projects.

The public can learn, observe, and experience the facility's efforts to understand and discover all the ecosystem and wildlife on the island has to offer. You'll be able to walk the paths to see tortoises, birds, vegetation, and creatures you cannot find anywhere else in the world.

2. Black Turtle Cove

Black Turtle Cove is a mangrove estuary where you can marvel at the beauty of the island while observing sea turtles, pelicans, rays, and much more.

This area is restricted and regulated to keep it natural and undisturbed by human contact. You can visit it by panga (a dinghy) as long as the motor is turned off and you are respectful of the environment and life around you.

This bay can be reached by path or water taxi and is worth the adventure to take in the beautiful beaches. You can visit from 6 am - 6 pm and there are water and snacks available if you decide to stay for the day. There aren't any bathrooms or change rooms available on the beach though so wear your swimsuit and be sure to visit the facilities before heading down the path.

December to May is the hottest season and you may find the heat unbearable at midday so many prefer to visit in the morning or evening to avoid the sweltering heat at its most fierce. Others relax in the warm waters of the beach and bask in the heat.

The eastern coast of Santa Cruz includes the beautiful and popular Carrion Point. This is an ideal location to snorkel and will provide you with sights you can't see and beauty beyond compare.
