Cape Cod's Chatham Bars Inn Cultivates Farm Workshops
The historic hotel will introduce a hearty Farm Share Program and hands-on Farm Workshops at its eight-acre farm in nearby Brewster, which provides as much as 25,000 pounds of produce for the resort's restaurants each year.

The Farm Share Program, available June 13 through Oct. 31, 2015, will offer participants a full season's worth of the best in organic fare for purchase. The spring bounty will include arugula, heirloom lettuce, pea shoots, kale, Swiss chard, spring onions, English cucumbers, broccoli, heirloom radishes, baby beets, cilantro and parsley, while mid-summer shares will include heirloom tomatoes, grape tomatoes, English and pickling cucumbers, heirloom snap beans, eggplants, summer squash, Tuscan kale, basil, beets and rainbow carrots. A full season share of 20 boxes (weekly pick-up) is $700 ($35 per box), and a Half Share of 10 boxes (bi-weekly pick-up) is $400 ($40 per box). Advance sign-up is required prior to growing season, and pick-up is available at the farm located at 3034 Main St., Brewster, Mass., every Saturday between 12-4 p.m. Chatham Bars Inn Farm's produce is 100 percent GMO free and is sustainably grown using organic principles. No synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fungicides are used, and extensive use of cover crops, compost and other soil conservation methods are employed.

Farm Workshops will be led by Chatham Bars Inn's own farm manager, Joshua Schiff, who will give hotel guests and locals a chance to learn the tricks of the trade, with topics ranging from “Designing the Perfect Kitchen Garden” and “Summer Vegetable Gardening in Cape Cod,” to “Achieving Four Season Harvest.” Workshops are $75 per person, per session, and advance sign-up is required.
