With the winter chill of Christmas and New Year around the corner, it is high time to consider taking a break and heading to some warm and cozy destination.
That said, because you are going on a vacation to escape the daily grind does not mean that you should forget how your complexion will look.
Besides tossing in some skin care products in your carry bag, there may be some skin care mistakes you might be making while jetting from one city to another.
Find out below what these mistakes are and how to implement some quick fixes for your trip to make you look your best whenever away from home.
1. Not prepping the skin
If you intend to take a flight to your holiday destination, it is important to do a little bit of prep work before you board. Begin by using an alcohol-free makeup remover to cleanse the skin from any impurities.
Once you are through with the cleansing apply a moisturizer formulated with broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30, as you are closer to the sun when flying.
2. Not tailoring the skin routine to your destination
When you choose to go on a vacation, you will most probably be heading to a place with different climate conditions. This means your skin care routine should be tailored accordingly based on where you are headed.
If you are holidaying somewhere which is hot and humid, use a light-weight moisturizer to prevent the skin from becoming over oily. On the other hand, if you are in a tropical place, cleanse the skin with micellar water, morning and night, to rid the skin’s surface of dirt and excess.
3. Neglecting hands and lips
Don’t assume that only your face deserves care on a vacation and no other part of your body, because your hands and lips are more frequently exposed to the elements than anything else.
While frequent hand washing can make them dry, so apply hand cream with Panthenol and Sacha Inchi Oil, which you can use while on the go. Imagine applying a coat of lipstick over dry lips can never be a fun experience.
4. Skipping broad spectrum sunscreen
Vacation or not, a broad spectrum sunscreen is a must to use all the year round, rain or shine. Going out in the sun without any protection can damage the skin and display signs of aging in the days to come such as wrinkles or dark spots.
For starters wear a broad sun hat, UV blocking glasses and apply sunscreen with an SPF of minimum 15 or higher, every two hours. Apply a peptide eye cream, perfect for specific anti-aging. Pamper the sun exposed skin with aftersun care products, with aloe Vera and other natural ingredients.
5. Not refreshing complexion after reaching destination
Your complexion will look lack-lustre after being cooped up in a flight cabin so dab on brightening makeup products to your entire face to make it look more awake.
Follow with a foundation with a radiant finish and make your eyes look brighter with a nude eyeliner and cover the dark circles under the eyes with products having retinol, vitamin C and SPF.
