Costa Rica Leads as Top Real Estate Investment & Travel Destination for Americans

Now more than ever before, Americans are exploring their options for new places to call home in search of a better quality of life outside of the United States. In this pursuit, all eyes are on Costa Rica. What was once considered a vacation or retirement destination, Costa Rica is home to the fastest growing American population outside of the United States, with nearly 317,000 Americans projected to move to the country by 2026.

Due to Costa Rica’s serene environment, cultural diversity, tropical weather, expansive biodiversity and hundreds of pristine beaches, the benefits are endless for Americans seeking a relaxed, vacation-style way of life. In response to the fresh demand and migration of prospective buyers, in tandem with the new wave of remote working, the real estate market is expanding. Ventana Costa Rica, the largest real estate project in the country, has recently hit the market offering buyers more opportunity to make Costa Rica home. Located in Puntarenas, the expansive property consists of 1,200 private properties with breath-taking ocean and mountain views, paired with expertly designed homes influenced by tropical modern architecture. Homes in the Ventana Costa Rica development will also have the ability to be listed on various homesharing platforms, in response to the tourism uptick in the country. This will bring 1,200 homes to the homesharing market, further inviting travelers and their families.

To entice new residents, the country has recently put into effect some incentives which include lowering the minimum capital investment for Costa Rica residency from $200,000 to $150,000; tax free importation of vehicles for personal or family use lifted and one-time tax exemption for importing household goods; and money earned abroad (e.g. a U.S. pension) will not be taxed by Costa Rica. Additionally, the digital nomad visa was recently created which is a new immigration category.

ISG World, who is handling the sales for Ventana Costa Rica, has partnered with the developers behind Ventana Costa Rica to introduce luxury homes to US citizens and make living in paradise a reality through financing opportunities. Through ISG World and its partner DaGrosa Capital Partners, traditional mortgage lending has been made available to Americans in Costa Rica for the first time ever, through which U.S. citizens will have the opportunity to obtain a 30-year fixed mortgage loan. With the financing flexibility, high quality of life, relatively low cost of living, commitment to sustainability and pristine natural environment, Ventana Costa Rica is the perfect place to provide these living enhancements to Americans.

“Costa Rica is a very special place to me, and I am thrilled to be working on this next international venture," said Craig Studnicky, CEO of ISG World. "Costa Rica has the fastest growing population of Americans compared to any other country in the world. The country has made accessibility easier for those looking to relocate, and more and more people are realizing the ‘pura vida’ lifestyle in this country is attainable. We are excited to help provide beautiful homes for our residents, and for the future of the development.”

Current American residents of Ventana Costa Rica are living out lives they once only dreamed of. Many have found fulfilling routines exploring the fruitful lands, frequenting beaches, jungles and coves, as well as creating their own tight-knit communities. The range of demographics varies from remote CEOs to solo entrepreneurs, to retirees and beyond, but they all have one thing in common, they’re all living Pura Vida.
