Lead the local way of life

Easter in Greece isn’t just another festival. In fact, it’s one of the most important events you could actually experience and guess what-it starts almost fifty days before Easter Sunday. I reckon you should give it a try and follow the Lent. It doesn’t matter if you’re religious or not-it will help your body and soul revive at the same time. Don’t forget that sea food like octopus and other mollusks are not only allowed, but they are really tasty as well. Don’t be afraid to enjoy them any time of the day along with some ouzo. Additionally, you could attend a local church’s Divine Liturgy. It will aid even more to experience the feeling of devoutness that Christians feel throughout the whole Easter period.

THINGS TO AVOID

No swimming

Well, that’s not totally a joke. Of course, swimming is not restricted throughout the whole year, but bear in mind that the temperature of the sea is way below 20 degrees Celsius during spring. In contrast, during the summer the temperature rises up to 27-28 degrees Celsius. Then, it becomes obvious that unless you practice swimming constantly throughout the months of the year, swimming is not a great idea. Sunbathing though shouldn’t be disregarded. It’s a fantastic chance to get a tan without needing lots of sunscreen as the sun isn’t that hot and hazardous during April or May when Easter usually takes place.

Avoid fishing and extreme activities

Weather in Greece isn’t always sunny and warm. It can turn out to be dangerous and unwelcome in the blink of an eye. That is, during a day the weather can turn from calm and warm to cloudy and stormy. For that reason you should always be aware of it and check the weather forecast at least once a day. It goes without saying that you should always inform your family if you are planning to venture for fishing or trailing.
