We had the opportunity to sit down with Philippe Ziade, and we were fortunate enough that he carved out a few minutes from his demanding schedule to share his insights. In our conversation, he spoke passionately about the inspirations behind Otonomus Hotel, the challenges of bringing AI into hospitality, and his vision for a future where technology and human emotion come together seamlessly.

Q: What was the “aha” moment that made you realize an AI-powered hotel was the future of hospitality?

Philippe: It was a progression of challenges. I started out operating Airbnb properties, but the biggest issue was always consistency and guest experience. As technology advanced, I realized I could combine the spacious feel of Airbnb with AI systems that track guest behavior and offer personalization at an entirely new level. That was when I understood we live in what I call the augmented age.

“It’s not about personalization anymore, it’s about self-curation. We put the guest in the driver’s seat to custom-tailor their journey.”

Q: What was the most unexpected challenge in bringing this vision to life?

Philippe: The hardest part was merging two very different industries: real estate and technology. Real estate thrives on tradition and discipline, while technology is all about constant innovation. Getting teams aligned with that new mindset was the biggest hurdle. The second challenge is the rollout phase, integrating our AI with actual construction. Many issues aren’t about the tech itself, but about how it overlays with wiring, hardware, and the physical building.

Q: Luxury is often defined by human connection. How do you see AI enhancing that bond instead of replacing it?

Philippe: Technology makes operations efficient and enables deep personalization, but what makes a stay unforgettable is the marriage between AI and human emotion. Our system runs invisibly in the background, freeing the team to focus entirely on the guest. That way, the technology amplifies hospitality instead of overshadowing it.

“The future of hospitality isn’t rooms and keys anymore, it’s algorithms, insights, and human emotions fused together.”

Q: Can you give an example of how AI creates those personalized touches?

Philippe: Let’s say you stayed with us two years ago and ordered an iced latte with oat milk. The next time you check in, you’ll be greeted with your latte already waiting at the bar. Guests are amazed when we anticipate their preferences without them having to ask. That’s the level of self-curation we’re building.

Q: What atmosphere do you want guests to feel when they enter an Otonomus Hotel?

Philippe: People expect a high-tech space to feel cold, but our design is warm, boho-inspired, and home-like. Whether you stay one night or six months, you’ll never feel pressured to leave, you’ll feel at home.

Q: Looking back, what advice would you give your younger self?

Philippe: I would tell myself to control ambition. Ambition drives you, but it can also slow you down if it takes you in too many directions. Success is not only about reaching the destination or enjoying the journey, it’s about who you become along the way.

Q: In your view, what timeless aspect of hospitality will never be replaced by technology?

Philippe: Human emotion. Technology makes things efficient, but only people can make an experience unforgettable. That emotional connection is what transforms a stay into a memory.

“The world we’re creating is one where the guest shouldn’t adapt to the hotel, the hotel should adapt to the guest.”

Philippe Ziade’s vision for Otonomus Hotel is more than a technological leap, it’s a redefinition of what hospitality can be. By merging AI with the irreplaceable warmth of human connection, he is building a future where guests don’t just stay, they curate their own experiences. In this new era, luxury is no longer about tradition alone, but about innovation that keeps people at the center.  So the next time you find yourself in Las Vegas, make sure to stay at Otonomus Hotel and experience the future of luxury hospitality firsthand.
