Before becoming Live Kolibri’s Co-Founder & Creative Director, Alex was a student-athlete inspired by her mom Teresa’s entrepreneurial achievements. Following in Teresa’s footsteps, Alex began her career in styling across Denver, Scottsdale, and Dallas, combining her passion for fashion with her entrepreneurial drive. As a former athlete and current stylist, Alex was uniquely positioned to identify the gap in men’s resort-wear, which led to the creation of Live Kolibri.
Meaning “hummingbird” in Spanish, Live Kolibri was born from a deeply personal connection. Hummingbirds have long symbolized the presence of Alex’s grandfather, whom she never met, serving as an enduring reminder of family and legacy. Naming the brand Kolibri reflects the family’s belief in signs and honors their shared values.
“Balancing sustainability with luxury was a significant challenge,” Alex shared. “We tackled this by committing to REPREVE, a recycled microfiber made from post-consumer plastic bottles found in our oceans. This ensures our products meet the highest standards of sustainability, design, and comfort.”
Live Kolibri’s designs are crafted from 99% recycled plastic bottles, with every detail—from zippers to buttons—meeting rigorous sustainability standards. Collaborating with organizations like PADI Aware, which protect marine life and promote eco-conscious living, the brand further extends its impact beyond fashion.
