Raffles Singapore Celebrates 100 Years of the Singapore Sling & Reveals Secret Recipe
Created in 1915 by Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon in the Long Bar at Raffles Singapore, formerly as a ladies only drink, the cocktail was an instant hit and became a renowned attraction. It is still acknowledged to this day that no visit to Singapore is complete without a stopover at the Long Bar.

Perfected over the last hundred years, The Singapore Sling is the ideal way to start any party and to celebrate the anniversary of this iconic drink, Raffles Singapore has unveiled the magic of the Sling ensuring the perfect cocktail this summer.

Back in the 1900's - the social era of hard liquor, it was common for men to drink whiskey and gin in public unfortunately for ladies it was not regarded as good etiquette to drink alcohol in high society. Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon saw a niche in the market and the Singapore Sling was born – A cocktail that looked similar to fruit juice but infused with gin and liqueurs. The colour made it appear feminine and the use of transparent alcohol helped it to become a socially acceptable punch for ladies.

The recipe of the Sling still remains unchanged from its creation.
