From May 30th to June 1st, 2014, wine lovers from Asia and beyond will convene at Soneva Kiri, the stunningly beautiful and truly sustainable resort on pristine Koh Kood, for a long weekend of sipping, savouring and learning at the table of a modern master - Hong Kong-based Asia Tatler wine editor and for three decades the guru of the grape for The Wine Spectator, James Suckling.

Soneva Kiri general manager Frank Grassmann said the unique three-day experience was a thrill to announce after many months in the planning.

"I'm delighted to say James Suckling will be in residence to share with guests his immense knowledge and experience gleaned during a lifelong pursuit of find the world's best wines," Mr Grassmann said.

For serious connoisseurs or those who simply love wine, Soneva Kiri is accepting reservations for a limited number of guests for a two-night package that includes a wine appreciation seminar and a picnic lunch on a deserted beach in a national marine park, as well as private plane travel to and from the resort from Bangkok, two wine dinners and one souvenir Lalique '100 points' glass.

On arrival at the resort on Friday, May 30th, guests will sit down to the Italian Wine Collectors dinner at The View restaurant, which offers dramatic vistas from its cliff-top perch and a world-class menu prepared by Soneva Executive Chef Kevin Fawkes and Chef de Cuisine Mark Jones.

Dinner will be followed by an al fresco Cinema Paradiso screening of the documentary 'Cannubi: A Vineyard Kissed by God', a thrilling documentary which follows Mr Suckling's pilgrimage to Cannubi, a 250-year-old vineyard in the heart of the Barolo region of Piedmont, northwest Italy.

After breakfast the next morning, guests can look forward to the 100 point Lalique Wine Seminar: How to Taste Like a Wine Critic. 'Beautiful yet functional' is how Mr Suckling describes his new wine glass, a joint creation with France's most esteemed crystal maker, Lalique.

A speedboat will ferry guests to lunch - a picnic affair on a deserted beach at the national marine park on nearby Koh Rang island, a truly special happening that will feature some of the world's best rosé wines and dishes prepared by Soneva's Khun Benz, one of the country's most celebrated Thai chefs.

En route to lunch, guests will pause for reflection on beauty and a refreshing peek beneath the Big Blue at one of Thailand's most revered snorkelling spots.

Dinner will be served under the stars at Soneva's observatory, which features a 14-inch Celestron telescope, one of the finest ocular offerings in Asia. Guests will be flown back to Bangkok after breakfast the following morning, having wined, dined and reclined with the gods.

Places for the James Suckling Wine Experience at Soneva Kiri are strictly limited and offered on a first-come, first served basis. Early bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment.

The cost for a Bayview Pool Villa Suite is USD 3,600 net per person (THB 117,000 net), while it is USD 4,400 net per person (THB 143,000 net) for a Cliff Pool Villa Suite and USD 5,200 net per person (THB 169,000 net) for an Ocean Front Pool Villa Suite.

There is a USD 1,300 net (THB 42,250 net) surcharge for an additional person participating in the event and staying in the same suite. On a villa and a breakfast basis, the cost for extension nights is USD 900 net (THB 29,250 net) (Bayview Pool Villa Suite), USD 1,125 net (THB36,563 net) (Cliff Pool Villa Suite) and USD 1,570 net (THB 51,025 net) (Ocean Front Pool Villa Suite).
