Sonny's Soda Shoppe Opens at Mondrian SoHo, New York
Sonny's Soda Shoppe draws inspiration from the famed Italian beach resort Forte Dei Marmi, recreating a “beach resort in the sky” complete with an outdoor gelato stand, market fresh Italian cocktails, homemade Sicilian pizza, and a 30 foot photo mural of the Italian coast. Sonny's Soda Shoppe brings a taste Italian coastal glamour to Soho, making it the perfect place to spend an afternoon sipping Rose or enjoying late night cocktails while listening to live music or our line-up of New York's best DJ's.

Sonny's takes over Mondrian Soho's 3000 square foot indoor/outdoor penthouse and turns it into a 1950's era Italian beach club. Designer DeVinn Bruce has looked to classic Italian umbrella stripes and created a custom photomural to invoke the glamour of the classic Tuscan beach clubs. The beverage program, created by mixologist Julio Torres, compliments the theme by showcasing market fresh Italian cocktails such as the Dolce Verde with Avion Blanco Tequila, Olive Oil, Honeydew, Arugula, Tarragon and Lime; the Chinotto with Buffalo Trace, Mirto Di Sardenga, Yuzu and Chinoto Di Lemon; "Gelato Floats" such as the Sonny's Blood Orange Gelato Float made with Don Julio Anejo, Chartreuse, Vanilla Gelato, and Blood Orange Soda; and our signature aperitif of Frozen Limoncello.

For Sonny's rooftop “Gelato Stand” Morgans will be featuring il Laboratorio del Gelato, the premiere creator of artisanal Gelato in Manhattan. “The Lab's” Gelato Stand will feature rotating flavors such as: Espresso, Blood Orange and Pistachio, among others. Guests will be able to purchase directly from the stand or sample the flavors in one of the alcohol “Gelato Floats.”

Sonny's authentic Italian pizza offerings feature market fresh and locally sourced ingredients created by Isola Trattora & Crudo Bar's Executive Chef, Victor LaPlaca. The menu will include five signature pizzas including Sonny's Sicilian Slice with mozzarella, oregano, sweet heirloom tomato and basil; Bianco with robiolla, fontina, mozzarella, hot peppers and oven-dried tomato; Margherita with mozzarella, tomato and basil; and Coppola with Salumaria pepperoni, spicy copa, tomato and mozzarella.

Alan Philips, Chief Marketing Officer of Morgans Hotel Group said, “With the plethora of rooftop bars in Manhattan, our creative team wanted to create an experience that you wouldn't usually find on top of a skyscraper. Something about the idea of a rooftop Gelato stand with a taste of 1950's Italy creates the perfect mix of whimsy & elegance, that will intrigue and excite the guest.”
