The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Bespoke Guest Experiences

In celebration of the hotel’s fifth anniversary, The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto has released a collection of bespoke guest experiences and custom-made items including a commemorative Monopoly board game and a one-of-a-kind sparkling sake. Continuing the hotel’s commitment to honoring Japanese tradition, the collection showcases Kyoto’s rich history, art, and culture.

The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto worked with sake producer Shichiken in the Yamanashi Prefecture, known for its exceptional water purity, to craft an exclusive, limited-edition sparkling sake, Suimei. The hotel’s team was involved in rice planting and harvesting, as well as the aging process in four Suntory whiskey barrels, crafting a thoughtful keepsake for guests who want to take home a taste of Japanese culture. The label, designed by Kyoto-based artist Yoneshige Kamimura, honors the Yuzen dyeing technique native to Kyoto with images of pure flowing water and the Kamogawa River. Suimei is served exclusively on-site at Mizuki and The Bar for 1,800 yen ($16) a glass, 10,000 yen ($90) a bottle (750ml).

The commemorative fifth anniversary Monopoly board game features elements and pieces customized to reflect The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto property. Players can choose from six tokens to navigate the board and collect everything from the hotel’s restaurants and signature suites to art installations found on the property. Visitors can purchase this game at The Ritz-Carlton Spa for 10,000 yen ($90).

Additional bespoke collection items include coasters printed with the traditional Japanese design found on the chandeliers of the hotel’s TAKANE banquet room; a set of folders featuring the fifth anniversary logo layered over some of the art found across the property; a traditional sake cup, or “Ochoko,” designed by a Kyoto-based lacquer artist; and new VIP welcome amenities.

The hotel’s efforts to integrate harmoniously into the local culture and give back to the community recently earned it recognition from the city of Kyoto.
