The St. Regis Mexico City Introduces International Tea Ritual
This unique program will feature fine teas from locations around the globe that practice cultural tea rituals including China, Japan, England, India, Africa and Brazil. Taking place in the newly established Glass House Café, The St. Regis Mexico City’s bespoke International Tea Ritual series will showcase a variety of cultural teas and traditional tea ceremonies every month beginning February 8 for Chinese New Year and leading up to the start of the 2016 Summer Olympics on August 5.

"Inspired by the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, we wanted to celebrate different countries, cultures, and traditions joining together in a special and unique way,” said Bernard de Villèle, general director. “Since The St. Regis is known for its signature Tea Rituals, we are excited to enable our guests the opportunity to honor and learn about diverse cultures by enjoying tea and tea ceremonies performed throughout the world.”

The Tea Ritual, since its creation in England in the early 1800's by Anna Maria Russell, Duchess of Bedford, has long been associated with high society entertainment. Naturally, the Grande Dame of New York society, Caroline Astor, mother of Colonel John Jacob Astor IV and founder of The St. Regis, adopted this tradition.

The St. Regis Mexico City’s International Tea Ritual series will take place in the Glass House Café every day from February 8 to August 5, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information on The St. Regis Mexico City or to make reservations, visit www.stregis.com/mexicocity or call 888-625-5144.
