Alsatian Bredele at Vitrine Restaurant

At Vitrine, The St. Regis San Francisco’s signature restaurant located on the hotel's fourth floor, Chef Romuald Feger will share one of his own cherished traditions with guests, homemade bredele. Characteristic of Chef Feger’s native Alsace region of France, these small cakes are a staple of the holidays. Chef Feger’s recipe is inspired by memories of his grandmother, Alice, who used to bake up to 50 pounds of bredele each holiday season as gifts for family and friends. After days of preparation, bredele is traditionally first served on Advent Sunday accompanied by a glass of a spiced mulled wine.

Chef Feger will serve three variations of bredele for guests of Vitrine this holiday season: Anisbredele, featuring green aniseeds for a distinctive taste; Cocosbredele, made with dried coconut; and Basler Leckerli, a Swiss take on the delicacy featuring honey, candied orange and lemon peel, almonds, ground cloves, and cinnamon. Bredele will be served complimentary at the end of each meal throughout the winter.

New this year, bredele will also be available for purchase at Vitrine and via Private Dining. The perfect hostess gift, the bredele is beautifully presented and accompanied by the story of Chef Romuald Feger’s Family Tradition. Available through December 31 and made to order with 24 hours advance notice, the delectable treats available in packages of 13 or 26, which retail for $16 and $32 respectively. Vitrine is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch. To reserve a table, please call 415-284-4049.

Holiday Spa Treatments at Remède Spa

There is no better time to pamper yourself than the holidays, and this season, the luxurious Remède Spa at the St. Regis San Francisco, San Francisco’s only Forbes Four Star Spa, will offer two festive holiday-themed treatments.

The Peppermint Pedi (60 minutes, $90) is a stimulating, exfoliating, and refreshing treatment that will relieve overtired feet from any holiday shopping. A wide range of chic polish colors will ensure that toes are strappy-heel ready for holiday soirees. Guests will be treated to a mini-bottle of Mumm Champagne and peppermint truffles.

Guests looking for something a little more indulgent can enjoy the Sugar n’ Spice Ritual (90 minutes, $265). The treatment begins with an aromatic body scrub including organic brown and raw sugars that are blended with coconut, avocado and sunflower oils, along with essential oils of cardamom & ginger. Skin is then hydrated with a body wrap featuring Aphrodisia oil, containing notes of sweet orange, nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon.
