Viceroy Los Cabos Becomes First Hotel in Latin America to Mint NFTs

Viceroy Los Cabos, San José Del Cabo’s premier oceanfront resort, has announced the debut of its Digital Art & Dinner Club, which marks the property as the first resort in Latin America to mint a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). In partnership with Leales NFT, a Los Cabos-based frontrunner in crypto-art and NFT curation projects led by Founder and President Phillip Roark, the Digital Art & Dinner Club will provide travelers with an accessible introduction to the latest developments in digital art, enhance their experience with exclusive access to dynamic events and exciting offers, and support the vibrant community of local artists.

“Our new club cements Viceroy as a leader in the hospitality industry by blending innovation with our guests’ interest in rich, immersive experiences,” said Peter Bowling, regional managing director of Viceroy Los Cabos. “This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for travelers to access a range of programming and events that highlight the incredible talent in Mexico’s emerging digital art community.”

After purchasing an NFT of the artwork from featured creators, travelers will be a member of the trailblazing art and loyalty program for its inaugural year and receive access to all monthly events virtually or live in Los Cabos. The membership will also include special offers and incentives to complement a visit to the picturesque property, including the chance for 10 lucky members to win a complimentary weekend or weeklong stay with dining experiences and other VIP perks. Viceroy Los Cabos plans to collaborate with contemporary fashion, music and art brands to launch their NFT projects to club members at a preview stage. The club’s experience will evolve with new offers and experiences after its first iteration.

The Digital Art & Dinner Club will kick-off on Wednesday, July 27 with a multi-course feast and a complimentary cocktail at Dalia, Viceroy Los Cabos’ newest signature dining concept, to showcase the first NFT collection by Baja California-based artist Elti Alejandro López Lora. Available to members visiting the resort in-person and those tuning in virtually, the event will feature an overview of the state-of-the-art club, its positive impact on the local arts community, and in-depth interviews with Peter Bowling and Elti Alejandro López Lora.

López Lora is the club’s premiere artist through Viceroy Los Cabos’ partnership with local nonprofit Prepárate 2100 A.C. and its La Gioconda NFT: Digital Arts & Development Program, which sponsors up-and-coming artists and invites urban creators to add their talents to the digital art space. López Lora’s piece, The La Gioconda Surreal Color Series, is a juxtaposition of an artist’s life between the seas with a nod to Prepárate 2100 A.C.’s inspiring program through its title, La Gioconda (Mona Lisa).

Viceroy Los Cabos’ launch into the crypto-art sector is a futuristic extension of the five-star luxury resort’s commitment to supporting and celebrating the arts. The program will vastly expand local artists’ reach through the digital space, allowing their work to be enjoyed by new audiences around the world.

The on-site Art Gallery at Viceroy Los Cabos is another key component to promoting creativity and advancing education for resort guests. A mélange of striking site-specific works stemmed from an amalgam of independent local artists, painters, sculptors, photographers and musicians is displayed throughout the public spaces alongside a robust art education program. Guests can take part in workshops including figurative art, mixed media, watercolor, textile, experiential and more. The gallery also serves as an opportunity for guests to purchase distinct works of art during their stay.

To purchase an NFT, prospective club members can visit Viceroy Los Cabos’ website, www.viceroyhotelsandresorts.com/loscabos, where a link will be available starting July 27.
